Dr. Jacob Shapiro is a board-certified vascular surgeon with comprehensive training in the full spectrum of vascular disease management. Born in New York and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Shapiro developed an early interest in science and medicine that guided his academic and professional journey.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami, graduating with honors in 2015. He then went on to attend the West Virginia University School of Medicine, where he graduated in the top quartile of his class, demonstrating both academic excellence and clinical distinction.
Dr. Shapiro completed his integrated vascular surgery residency at TriHealth in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he received extensive training in both open and endovascular techniques. During his residency, he developed particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of carotid artery disease, hemodialysis access, abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, and venous thromboembolic conditions.
In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Shapiro has contributed to the advancement of vascular surgery through original research presented at multiple national conferences and publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
After learning about Symmetry Vascular and connecting with its partners, Dr. Shapiro recognized the practice as an ideal fit for both his professional goals and personal values. He is proud to be part of a team dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered vascular care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Shapiro enjoys spending time with his wife, Lanie, their newborn daughter, and their dachshund mix, Oscar. In his free time, he values time with family, enjoys reading Stephen King novels, has a passion for cultivating plants, and looks forward to watching his family grow.
